Where can I try panning for placer gold in southern Michigan in the east side of the state near Detroit?

I have never panned for gold before and I would like to at least start where there might be some. I live just north of Detroit, I have read that their is palcer gold in Michigan. I could use some tips... I am also willing to try areas not too far into Ohio.

I've been panning in Michigan for a Few years . I have found gold in almost every stream I've been to & I've been to a few. Oakland County seem's to be real good & Mid michigan area also all the famous Canoe rivers Up North & Im heading up to the U.P. this summer have friends that do good up there.

Also join the GPAA google it. You get some good info also when your a Member you can use there gold claims they have 1 in Michigan.
