Who was the Cherokee Indian Chief Sitting Bull?

The person most commonly confused with the famous Sioux chief of the same name was an Arapaho named Sitting Bull, sometimes called the "Arapaho John the Baptist. He was a follower of Ghost Dance movement leader Wovoka. You may know that the Ghost Dance was a key element in the Massacre at Wounded Knee. Sitting Bull (Arapaho) carried the Ghost Dance and spiritual beliefs that went with it into Oklahoma. This is where he becomes associated with the Cherokee, though the dance was not adopted by the Cherokee. They had already been exposed to it much earlier through a prophet named Tsali before the Trail of Tears However, the dance had long sense lost favor with them. Sitting Bull (Arapaho) did have "converts" among the Cheyenne, Caddoes, Wichita, Kiowa and others.
