Cat leaves brown flakes where she lays?

Ever since I got my cat, she has been leaving brown flakes of different sizes almost everywhere she lays. It is usually a place as big as her body that is covered with the flakes. No, they are not from her bum. My friend said it might have to do with dry skin or from me bathing her too much. I only bathe her about once a month. Could anyone tell me what the brown flakes are?
She has no noticeable flakes on her body, they just seem to appear when she lies down.

Flakey droppings can be caused by many things. Bathing a cat once a month is really not necessary. Cats bathe themselves many times a day, and bathing actually can dry the skin and it could slough off. This being said . . .

Allergies, parasites, and other medical conditions may cause the skin to flake off. The best thing for you to do is to have your cat examined by a vet, where he can take skin scrapings and examine them under a microscope.

Allergies are but one cause. There are many others, and would require a professional to assess the cause and to prescribe treatment.
